A Message to the staff of CatholicCare Broken Bay

A Message to the staff of CatholicCare Broken Bay
Thursday 2 April 2020

My dear sisters and brothers,

Over the past few weeks, life as most people know it has changed in the most remarkable way. I have heard some people commenting that they can’t wait to get back to normal. My response has been to suggest that life moves forward, not backward. Therefore, there is no going back to yesterday or last week or last year. Time moves forward and so do our lives.

It is good to acknowledge that not everyone moves at the same speed and that moving forward rarely means in a straight line. People of diverse life experience, cultural upbringing, social background, and faith tradition all share the common human need to live, and to live well.

Our Christian faith reminds us that Jesus came so that we might have life to the full (cf. John 10:10). It is in Christ that we are one. That, after all, is what Christianity is all about – union with God and union with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The love of Christ urges us on in our efforts to reach out to others in their need. The ministry and work of CatholicCare in the Diocese of Broken Bay is an essential part of our community of faith reaching out to others in love. Now more than ever, the assistance and services that we offer are helping to unite all people across our community.

I am grateful to all who share in this mission in Broken Bay. I would like to extend my gratitude to you for the marvelous work that you do. I know that you find joy in helping others. That is a sign of the Holy Spirit moving through you. Thank you for your dedication and care. You make our community a place where people are respected and where they can live with dignity. Thank you.

Abundant blessings to you and your loved ones this Easter,

Most Rev Anthony Randazzo DD, JCL
Bishop of Broken Bay
