Danny Casey_bio_photo-2The role had been temporarily filled by Dr Anthony Bracken, Assistant Director - School Improvement, since Mr Peter Hamill’s departure from the Diocese in July 2019, to take up the role of Deputy Director of the National Catholic Education Commission.  Mr Casey’s appointment will allow Dr Bracken to return to his previous role and continue the important work of ensuring that our schools provide the very best in quality Catholic education for our children.

Mr Casey is an active member of St Agatha’s Parish, Pennant Hills, and is known by many from his role as Chief Executive Officer for the 23rd World Youth Day held in Sydney in 2008.  Mr Casey was also previously the Business Manager for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. After leaving the Archdiocese of Sydney, Mr Casey spent more than two years as Director of the Secretariat for the Economy for Vatican City.  Since returning from Rome, he has taken up various board and consulting appointments in the Catholic sector.  Mr Casey brings with him significant academic and professional achievements.

“I am delighted to be appointed as Interim Director of Schools in the Diocese and very much look forward to connecting with you in the times ahead.”  Mr Casey stated in a letter to staff and parents on the day of his appointment.

“The Catholic schools of Broken Bay have a wonderful history of service to the community. Through the dedicated service of teachers, the support staff and all those who serve in the Catholic Schools Office, we have shaped the lives of many thousands of students – helping them grow in their faith and achieve their potential.”

Mr Casey continues to say “Broken Bay Schools have a clear purpose and enormous potential.  Under the leadership of Bishop Anthony Randazzo and with the support of our teachers, priests and our many dedicated staff, we will unlock our potential, deliver our Mission and strive to serve our students, their parents and all in our Broken Bay community.”

Although there are a number of immediate challenges Mr Casey will have to face due to the  COVID-19 pandemic, he looks forward to the opportunity to engage with as many people as possible, using suitable methods to share and develop ideas.

Within the next twelve months, recruitment will begin for the permanent position of Director of Schools.
