Appointment of Selina Hasham as Interim Director of Communications

The Most Rev Anthony Randazzo is delighted make a further announcement with respect to the appointment of one his key senior advisors. Ms Selina Hasham has accepted the role of Interim Director of the Office for Communications commencing from Wednesday, 20 May 2020.

Selina’s appointment is particularly significant with respect to Bishop Randazzo’s keenness to develop and strengthen a whole of Diocese approach to communications, identifying and promoting greater opportunities for collaboration between diocesan agencies as they each engage the mission of the Church of Broken Bay.

Selina has worked for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney for 14 years in various capacities including Creative Director, Communications Director and more recently, working with Bishop Randazzo in the area of Ongoing Clergy Formation and Well-being in the Office of the Episcopal Vicar for Formation during his time as auxiliary Bishop. Selina is a member of the international leadership council of a Catholic lay community and sits on a number of boards and committees in the Catholic world. She has been significantly involved in Australia's World Youth Day journey over the past 20 years coordinating the first national Australian youth pilgrimages and being part of the organising team when Sydney hosted WYD in 2008. A teacher by profession, Selina is committed to creating opportunities for lay people to grow in their faith and be a vital element in the mission of the Church. She is also dedicated to supporting our clergy in their pastoral ministry.

In acknowledging her new role, Ms Hasham said, “I look forward to working with Bishop Randazzo and his team to orient the Diocese in creative ways toward what God is doing with his people in the region of Broken Bay. It’s my great privilege to accept this appointment.”

Recruitment for the permanent position of Director of Communications will begin during this interim period, with Selina playing a pivotal role in the process.
