School Fee Freeze for 2021

21 December 2020

Catholic Schools Broken Bay announced this week that school fees across all 44 schools in the diocese will not be increased in 2021. Under the new 2021 fee schedule, no family will pay more than they would have under the 2020 fee schedule.

fee-freeze-2020-largeAfter a difficult year for families in 2020, with many impacted by the COVID pandemic, Bishop Anthony Randazzo emphasised that Catholic Schools Broken Bay remain firm in their commitment that no family will be denied a Catholic education because of financial difficulties.

“To further assist our families, not only are we holding fees, we are also increasing the discounts we apply to siblings and continue to offer generous COVID fee relief support to all families in 2021,” Bishop Randazzo said.

The discounts comprise of the following:

  • Maintenance of the COVID Fee Relief program up until the end of Term 1 for those on JobKeeper and until the end of Term 3 for those on JobSeeker. Any family requiring further support beyond Term 3 will be offered additional assistance at that time. Any families not on JobKeeper or JobSeeker that have been impacted financially by COVID are also welcome to apply for fee relief.
  • For 2021, further pandemic support will be offered by way of an increased 5% sibling discount on the Education Fee for the second and third child (from 20% to 25% for the second child and 50% to 55% for the third child). The 4th child will receive 100% discount on the Education Fee.

Coupled with their supportive stance on fees, Catholic Schools Broken Bay will also move to a more streamlined method of invoicing at the commencement of 2021, providing a more “user friendly” invoice to families.

Director of Schools, Mr Danny Casey, said “Our new format invoice reflects a Single Education Fee merging the previously separated fees of: Tuition; Building Levy; School Resource Fee and other locally determined fees. Our sibling discount is applied to the new Education Fee, previously, the sibling discounts only applied to the Tuition fee, providing a further benefit to our families.”

“A supplementary fee will only be charged in the instances where a particular year group is charged for a compulsory activity that will enhance the educational experience. This may include items such as an overnight camp or retreat, or a specific cost related to particular subject choice in a secondary college” said Mr Casey.

“Importantly, parents will be to see the total commitment and substantial support for those who need it – with no surprises.”
