Governance and Policies

In 2016, leadership of the Catholic Church in Australia created Catholic Professional Standards Ltd whose mission is to promote the dignity and welfare of all persons who come into contact with the Church and its works, especially the young and vulnerable. The core function is to set nationally consistent standards, audit and report on compliance with those standards across the Catholic Church Authorities.

Developing a culture that promotes a commitment to providing a safe, attentive and responsive environment involves all those engaged or appointed to work in the Diocese. To achieve this all people are guided by the visible leadership and the clear and concise safeguarding policies and procedures made available.

All workers within the Diocese are encouraged to embrace appropriate boundaries, behaviours and practices through education, awareness and advocacy. Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is everyone’s business.
