EVERYONE HAS QUESTIONS
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith. To ask questions, and share their point of view in an open, friendly environment.
EXPLORE LIFE, FAITH & MEANING
What is Alpha?
Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith, in a friendly, open and informal environment. Alpha is not so much a course, but an EXPERIENCE! Gathering once a week over a twelve week period, each Alpha experi-ence brings together people from every walk of life. The format of Alpha is always the same. We begin each Alpha gathering by sharing a meal, then we watch a video, have a break for coffee and finally a small group discussion. Over 29 million people across the globe have done Alpha.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone and anyone. The symbol for Alpha is the Question Mark? The beauty of Alpha is that there are no questions that are taboo, too silly or too simple. You ‘can ask that!’ You don’t have to be or have done anything to come to Alpha. Just ‘Come and See’. So if you are new to the area, new to Australia, new to the parish, just come. We come together with one another as we are, free to be ourselves.

Upcoming Alpha experience in 2020
Evening Alpha starts 3rd March. This Alpha runs on from 7.00-9.00pm in a Parish Hall Epping, and is a great choice for those coming from work.
Alpha begins Tuesday 3 March 2020 - Parish Hall Epping
Our first task ~ please pray for all who will be blessed by Alpha for Alpha relies on the Holy Spirit to guide and inspire. Nothing happens without the Holy Spirit and everything happens with the Holy Spirit. Fr Peter asks us to pray to the Holy Spirit for us to be missionary, to go out to others and invite them to Alpha. We also pray for the Holy Spirit to move the hearts of people to come. The Holy Spirit works through a team of people committed to their guests. These hosts and helpers and the hospitality Task Force are being called to join the team that makes Alpha available in Epping. Alpha begins on Tuesday 3 March in 2020.
Come Holy Spirit, fill us with your love, use us to witness to your love and show us who to invite to experience your love.
Do you know? Do you care?
Did you hear of the teacher who asked a student to explain the difference between “ignorance” and “indifference”. The student paid no attention and did not seem interested, so the teacher asked again. Then the student said very strongly, “I don’t know and I don’t care!” Excellent answer. That is the difference!
Ignorance is ‘I don’t know’ and Indifference is ‘I don’t care’.
Some parents have wondered, how do I “tell” or “teach” my children about my Catholic faith, because it is so important to me? This is a clue ~ if they are ignorant and indifferent, telling them will not help, for they don’t know and don’t care. There is another approach, offer them your reasons for the knowledge and hope you have and present your experience for caring.
The reason is the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is someone you can have a personal relationship with. The friendship and trust in Jesus is very real and this changes everything. When they see how you “do care” about life, about them and about others, they can see how loving is caring and may become curious to learn more.
As adults we run into all kinds of things that can lead us in all kinds of directions that don’t bring life. Sometimes we find ourselves doing life in ways that don’t give life, but we don’t know what to do about it anymore. Most of us find ourselves captive to fear and addictions and just bad choices – and that’s not life and we know it.
“Alpha gives us a chance to take a pause as we sit around a table over a meal, and talk about ‘how we are making out?’” We explore life’s basic questions. “At the end of the day, God is real or God is not, and if God is, you’re going to want to find out a little bit about what God is offering. Does God know us? Does God care about us? There is evidence that God is not ignorant nor indifferent to us.
If you have questions, your curiosity opens the door to ask about what you don’t know. You also open up to other people, that shows you do care. This is an invitation to go beyond being ignorant. Bring your questions to Alpha.
