The Diocese of Broken Bay officially endorsed the establishment of the Broken Bay Korean Community at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish at Waitara on 1 December 2002.
Fr Phillip (Seaung Jin) Chun was appointed as the Korean Chaplain and the first Mass in Korean was celebrated on 15 December 2002.

The present Chaplain for the Korean Community is Fr Jihoon Lucius Choi and Assistant Priest Fr Keong Seob Eliseus Shin

The Catholic Korean Community has existed in the Diocese of Broken Bay for 13 years. Since November 2012, it has been located at Queen of Peace Church, Normanhurst. At present, there are some 1,800 people in the community, and more than 400 families.

As of 1st July 2019, the Korean Chaplaincy was formed and now has its own identity in the Diocese of Broken Bay rather than being simply a movement within an existing Parish. A Charter and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Korean Catholic Chaplaincy and Hornsby Cathedral Parish was implemented on 1st July 2019.
