Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral

Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral is dedicated to and under the protection of Mary, the mother of Jesus, under the title of "Our Lady of the Rosary".

The Windows

The stained glass windows were made in the 1940s for the old church. The cost was defrayed from the proceeds of a bequest from the estate of James and Bertha Quinn who worked tirelessly for the parish in its earliest years. The main window was over the altar in the original church, as it is now.

The set of 3 windows of Our Lady of the Rosary, in the Chapel, was at the opposite end of the original church. These windows depict Our Lady with St Catherine of Siena and St Dominic. These old stained windows were designed and made by John Ashwin & Co. Possible artist John Radecki.

The Altar

This is the altar which stood for many years in the original church.
It was built, along with matching marble pulpit, altar rails, and floor, in the late 1940s in memory of the work of Father W. Hawe.Upon the building of our new church, the altar was reduced in size and rebuilt. All marble in the church also comes from the original works.

The Baptismal Font

The font is made from sandstone and also comes from the original church. The window over the baptismal font, which is the work of Rodney Marshall, was made in 1991 upon the occasion of the building of the church.

The Shrine of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop

This is in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The picture of Saint Mary MacKillop was blessed at the Mass during the parish pilgrimage in honour of Mary MacKillop on 19 March 1995 in the Josephite Chapel at North Sydney.

The Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour which is hanging above the candle stand was donated to our Parish by Helen Schyvens and family in 2007.

The Bishop's Chair

This chair is a sign of unity in the Diocese of Broken Bay. In Latin, it is known as the 'Cathedra'. The church that houses the 'Cathedra' is therefore known as the Cathedral. The chair was designed by Laurie Glendenning and constructed by Franco Vallario from Precision Marble Pty Ltd. The chair was donated to the parish by a generous parishioner.
