Our Parish

The parish of Arcadia situated in the Diocese of Broken Bay was formed in 1970 from the parish of Asquith and was entrusted to the pastoral care of the Benedictine community. The parish enjoys a rich heritage of diverse nationalities and a vibrant community spirit which it wishes to share.

While the parish does not have its own parish school, it has been blessed by a very dedicated team of Catechists who regularly teach the faith in all our local primary schools. This work is further served by the Sacramental Team who prepare candidates for their celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation. The parish is blessed by having the Parish Centre which was opened in 1983 after a very dedicated band of parishioners had worked hard to provide this facility – a great step forward after our initial time worshipping in the School of Arts at Glenorie.

The liturgical life of the community is well prepared and served by a great variety of ministers. Musicians, acolytes and readers play a very central role in sustaining the prayer of the community when we gather for Sunday Eucharist. Besides the full cycle of liturgical celebrations provided throughout the year, provision is made regularly for prayer groups, bible study and devotional groups.

The parish community has always been well served by many who volunteer their time and effort to maintain the parish facilities and to raise finances for the parish. Outreach beyond the parish has been a hallmark of the community. We are served by a team of St. Vincent de Paul to answer the many needs of our area and to ensure the life of our store at Galston.

You are welcome to come along and join the life of this community. The Parish Pastoral Council seeks to maintain and develop that life. We hope that you will find our parish community a place of welcome and a source of life for you and your family.
