Sr Jennifer Canillas OSA is an Augustinian Sister of Our Lady of Consolation. Along with Sr Josie Malibi OSA, she works as Pastoral Support at MacKillop Catholic College, Warnervale and is a parishioner at Toukley-Lake Munmorah Parish.
One of the earliest memories of my childhood is of seeing my mother kneeling in front of her small altar with a beautiful statue of a lady. One night I asked her about the lady to whom she was praying and she patiently explained to me, “This is the Blessed Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus, my mother and yours, too.” I had heaps of questions for my mum and towards the end of our conversation she taught me how to pray the “Hail Mary.” And every night afterwards I would join my mother in praying to Our Lady, her Mother and mine, too.
