Alpha returns in 2024

Over the past two years, Alpha has been gaining popularity within the Hornby Cathedral Parish, spanning both Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in Waitara and Queen of Peace in Normanhurst. We are thrilled to announce its return in 2024.

Alpha is a course that explores the Christian faith, widely utilised by dioceses and parishes, including ours, for both evangelization and reigniting faith among parishioners. Beginning with the question "Who is Jesus?" and exploring his death and resurrection, the course covers topics such as the Holy Spirit, prayer, the Bible, and the Church. While some Catholics may perceive Alpha as intended for other denominations, it is endorsed by the Church and the Pope and is used by Catholic parishes worldwide. Rather than replacing sacraments, Alpha is designed to explore fundamental questions in humanity and Christianity, such as whether there is more to life, the identity of Jesus, the purpose of our existence, and more.

Alpha serves as a wonderful means to bring people together. Sessions commence with a shared meal, fostering community building and mutual acquaintance. Following this, participants watch a video on a specific topic, and finally, groups gather to exchange thoughts and ideas in an open, friendly, and honest environment. There is no obligation to share, and all perspectives are welcome.

Alpha offers an opportunity to "go back to basics," catering to individuals at all levels of their faith journey, allowing them to explore Christian beliefs. We extend an invitation to all interested parties. The upcoming Alpha will commence after Pentecost, in May, and will be hosted in the Queen of Peace hall. Details, including online sign-up information, will be confirmed closer to the time. In the meantime, for more information or to register your interest, please email hcp.alpha01@gmail.com.
