Children's Liturgy

Children-playing-on-grassThe Children's Liturgy is offered at every Sunday evening Mass during the school term.  This ministry assists with the presenting of the Liturgy of the Word from the readings of the day at a child's level so that they can relate its relevance to their everyday lives and experiences.

The children are of lower primary school level and leave the church with the Children's Liturgy Leaders at the beginning of Mass and return after the Offertory.  They process together to the school hall where they begin with a prayer, listen to the readings, learn about them, often sing a song and do suitable craft activities.  Some children are asked to be involved in the offertory procession while the other children come back to their parents in the church.

All teachers have a Working With Children Check Clearance number from the Office of Children's Guardians and this clearance number has been verified by the parish.  We also endeavour to have, for safeguarding reasons, 2 teachers at all times with the children.  Any child that is of pre-school age is asked to be accompanied by a parent.

Children's Liturgy has had to cease due to Covid.  We will recommence when it is safe for all to do so.
