The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. As a sacrifice, it makes present Jesus Christ's Body of Christ sacrifice on the cross at Calvary for the salvation of many. As a presence, it is Jesus himself, body and blood, under the appearance of bread and wine. And as food, it is the nourishment of our souls by which we share in God’s own life. And as viaticum, accompanies us on our pilgrim journey to heaven.
First Holy Eucharist 2024
Structure of The Program
The current order of reception of the Sacraments in the Diocese of Broken Bay is Baptism, Confirmation, First Reconciliation, and First Eucharist (First Communion). Children in Yr 4 (or above) who have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Reconciliation are eligible for First Eucharist (First Communion).
For the Sacrament of First Holy Communion (Eucharist), candidates and their parents (where applicable) are required to enrol and attend all preparation sessions prior to receiving this Sacrament and candidates must have already received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Reconciliation.
The preparation program for each sacrament is a parish-based program and is structured in such a way, that parents and children spend quality time with each other in preparation to receive the sacrament.
If you wish to be a facilitator for any of the sacraments, or have any concerns, or difficulties, please do not hesitate to speak with Fr Tomy at any time or contact the parish office 4396 4455.
