In our Parish, which is part of the Diocese of Broken Bay, the order of the Sacraments of Initiation for children after Baptism is;
- Confirmation - followed by
- First Reconciliation - then
- Eucharist (Holy Communion) - which completes their initiation into the Church.
Therefore, the Children’s Sacramental Program as a three-stage process, which normally runs over a 12-18 month period. The dates for our current program are available by clicking 2019-2020 Program Dates here or on the left side menu.
Children who are baptised Catholics and 7 years of age or older are eligible to join the program.
If your child is not yet baptised and you would like to know about Baptism, go to our Kids Baptism page.
Children usually begin the program whilst in Year 2 by preparing for and receiving Sacrament in the program, Confirmation.
They usually conclude the program in Year 3 by preparing for Reconciliation followed by preparation and reception of Eucharist (Holy Communion).
It is not unusual however, for families to approach us with older children who have missed out on one or more of these sacraments for all kinds of reasons: moving house or area, overseas travel or living, etc. If this is your situation, or if you would like to know more about the Children's Sacramental Program, we warmly invite your to contact us to discuss how we can help you prepare your children for the Sacraments of Initiation.
