At Our Lady of Dolours Parish in Chatswood, we understand the importance of providing meaningful and personalised funeral options for our community members. We recognise that each individual is unique, and their final farewell should reflect their life, values, and beliefs. Our dedicated team is here to guide and support you during this challenging time. From traditional religious ceremonies to contemporary celebrations of life, we strive to create a fitting tribute that brings comfort to family and friends while honouring the memory of the departed.
Our Lady of Dolours Parish embraces the diverse needs and preferences of our community members when it comes to funeral arrangements. Whether you seek a solemn and intimate gathering or a larger memorial service, we have the flexibility to accommodate your wishes. Our sacred space provides a serene and comforting environment for prayer, reflection, and remembrance.
The availability of the church to hold your funeral will be dependant on other bookings and events that week. Generally funeral times are 10:30am or after 2:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Funerals are not held on Thursday as we have Adoration and Holy Hour.
The church hire fee is $250. It is customary to also extend a donation to the priest that presides over the funeral, and the suggested amount is $250. If you require one of our priests for a funeral, it will be subject to their availability and they will request to meet with you before the funeral and help you to plan this.
We understand that the financial capacity of each person and family differs - and that is okay! If you would have any difficulty meeting the costs associated with the church hire fee and/or that of the priest, please be in touch with our front office and let us know this - we would not want your financial situation to hinder you from holding a beautiful funeral in our church.
Our Lady of Dolours offers a state-of-the-art profesional audio and video streaming service if you require it. This service is priced from $800.
