RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process by which adults become Catholics. Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist are the three Sacraments of Initiation.

Those who are requesting all three Sacraments are called Catechumens. Those who are baptised in other religions are not baptised again but come into full communion with the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist (Holy Communion). They are called Candidates. This ceremony ideally takes place during the Easter Vigil Mass but can be celebrated at other times.

Enquiries for the RCIA program are welcome at any time, but we usually begin about August. For more information about RCIA, download the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults information leaflet.
