Formation and Catechesis
Parish Catechists in the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine
Jesus says to His disciples, “Go out into all the world and preach the Good News.” A catechist has the joy of spreading this Good News to the Catholic children in the Primary Schools of Warrawee Public School, on the Pacific Highway, and Wahroonga Public
School (The Bush School) on Burns Road. Our catechists are trained and resourced to make this a meaningful experience for both children and catechists alike. This rewarding form of discipleship does not require an in-depth knowledge of Catholic doctrine as
resources are fully provided. The catechist brings a deep love of Jesus and love for children. It takes a little time to prepare and give your lesson once a week. It is also possible to attend classes once a week in a supportive role to our catechists.
Ku-ring—gai Christian Education Association
Our parish supports this local ecumenical initiative which provides a Religious Education teacher at our local State High School, Ku-Ring-Gai Creative Arts High School. The teacher is Mrs. Lisa Andrawes.
Parish Baptismal Preparation Programme
We invite those families who are presenting their children for baptism to be present at our Sunday 9.15am Mass on the last Sunday of the month for a welcome by the community and the First Anointing of Baptism. A preparatory session for parents follows the Mass at 10.30a.m. Co-ordinator: Mrs. Elizabeth Webster.
Children’s Sacramental Programme
This programme helps prepare members of our parish to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and Eucharist. It is facilitated by our Sacramental Programme Co-ordinator and draws assistance from parents of the children in the program
who act as session leaders for the weeks over which the programme is conducted. We prepare for Confirmation in August/September; Reconciliation in March/April; First Eucharist in May/June. Preparation sessions are conducted over three Saturdays from 4p.m. to 4.50p.m. and are held at Prouille School.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The greatest sign of the Church’s life is the welcome of new members into its community. This programme, culminating in baptism during the Easter Vigil, welcomes new Catholics into our community through a structured process of induction and formation.
Lay Dominican Association
Lay Dominicans are people, living and working in the secular world, while fully belonging to the Dominican Order. The Association meets once a month to pray together, study Dominican Spirituality, Sacred Scripture, and the documents of the Church. Any
Catholic from 18 years of age, committed to their Catholic faith, seeking to deepen their spirituality and to help spread the Word of God is welcome.
