YEAR OF YOUTH 2018

“OPEN NEW HORIZONS FOR SPREADING JOY”
Young People, Faith & Vocational Discernment

The Australian Bishops have identified the liturgical year of 2018 as a national Year of Youth. In November 2017, at the commencement of the Year of Youth, Bishop Peter formally Handed over the CYBB Pilgrim Cross to the young people of Broken Bay. This Cross has been entrusted to young people to carry around the Diocese throughout the Year of Youth and will be in the Wyong Parish from the 27th of October to the 2nd of November.

It is hoped that the CYBB Pilgrim Cross and the Year of Youth Image will encourage parish celebrations of the Year of Youth. Parishes have been asked to collaborate with the local community, including schools, to plan and host events and initiatives of youth outreach during this time.

The Year of Youth “invites the church into a dialogue about the importance and life-giving presence of young people in the Church and society. It calls for dialogue and active engagement focused on the reconnection and renewal of a new generation of young people in the life of the Church”.

2018 is the time for our parish to listen to the feelings, thoughts, challenges and joy of young people. With this in mind, Wyong Parish will be holding a special celebration on Saturday 30th June at St John Fisher hall. We will begin the celebration with Vigil Mass at 5pm followed by a potluck dinner and Listening Forum. please note this important date in your diary. A registration form will be available in the coming weeks.
