Who does Pastoral Works Broken Bay support?
Every year, your donations to Pastoral Works Broken Bay (PWBB) support two key Diocesan ministries. They are the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) and Hospital Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Program. PWBB also contributes financially to St Lucy's School and St Edmund's College for students with disabilities and the Ephpheta Centre which supports the deaf community.

1. Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)
In our Diocese there are more than 700 volunteer catechists who have received specialised training and provide religious education to nearly 12,000 Catholic students attending public primary and secondary schools in our local parish communities. CCD provides regular resources and newsletters for the students and their families. It is a vital evangelisation role and a vibrant, enriching and rewarding ministry. Without your support, thousands of our young people in our Diocese would not receive Catholic education.

2. Hospital Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Practitioner Program
Priests and lay pastoral care volunteers visit seven hospitals in the Diocese to provide a listening ear, sacraments and support for people often in their most vulnerable times. Every year these people visit more than 3,000 individual patients in seven different hospitals. They are there in end-of-life situations, when people are feeling lonely and afraid, or when parents are faced with enormous challenges when a child or baby may be seriously sick.

3. St Lucy's School
St Lucy’s School is a Catholic K-12 school in the Dominican tradition for students with disabilities. They provide a holistic education, offering outstanding academic programs taught by special educators. At St Lucy's they view each child individually to unlock their unique potential and to encourage them to become independent.

4. St Edmund's College
St Edmund’s is a Catholic 7 -12 high school for students with a wide range of disabilities including sensory impairment, intellectual disability, and autism. St Edmunds creates a holistic learning environment incorporating academics and personal wellbeing through co-curricular activities.

5. The Ephpheta Centre
Ephpheta means “Be Open”. The Ephpheta Centre provides pastoral care, sacramental services, support, and advocacy for the deaf or hard of hearing. The chaplaincy team visits people confined to their homes, nursing homes, hospitals, and those in prison, as well as friendship community gatherings catering to people across Sydney and the Central Coast.

If a payment or donation has been made to the Diocese in error and a refund is required, please contact our Finance Department on (02) 8379 1600. Any approved refunds will be returned using the original method of payment. Payments or donations from credit cards will be refunded to the same credit card used to make the donation.
