Youth Mass
The Parish Sunday 6pm Mass is designated specially as a Youth Mass. There are various ministries our youth may be involved in:
- Youth choir – singers and musicians lead the congregation at various parts of the Mass in worship.
- Readers – the first and second readings, responsorial psalm and Gospel acclamation are read by the youth.
- Altar Servers – youth assist the priest at this Mass as junior or senior servers where available.
Salvatorian Youth
Our parish is under the care of the Salvatorian order. Salvatorian Youth Australia sponsor various youth events/activities throughout the year, such as Praise and Worship nights and gatherings. These events are advertised in the Parish bulletin, or see the Salvatorian Youth Australia group at Facebook, Salvatorian Youth Australia.
Catholic Youth Broken Bay
Catholic Youth Broken Bay (or, CYBB) works to:
- Promote a Catholic youth culture,
- Encourage young people to join in with the life of our faith communities, and
- Helps to empower everyone to live as God's disciples in the world.
Catholic Youth Broken Bay offers resources and training to assist in this role among school-aged youth, through parish life and outreach, and among young adults. It collaborates with clergy, religious and ecclesial movements, and engages with national and international gatherings, to nurture youth involvement across the Diocese of Broken Bay.

Australian Catholic Youth Festival
The Australian Catholic Youth Festival is a national gathering of Catholic young people established by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. The Festival provides young people with opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to be disciples in the world, and encounter and celebrate the vitality of the Church in Australia.

The most recent Australian Catholic Youth Festival was hosted by the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in the City centre along the banks of the Yarra River. The Festival began on the afternoon of Sunday, 30 November and finished in the late evening on Tuesday, 2 December 2025.

World Youth Day 2027
World Youth Day (WYD) 2027 is a global festival for young Catholics (primarily ages 14 to 30, though open to all). Instituted by Pope John Paul II in 1985, it is a spiritual pilgrimage that takes place every few years in a different host city. In 2027, WYD is in Seoul, South Korea.
- Dates: August 3 to August 8, 2027.
- Location: Seoul, South Korea.
- Theme: "Take courage, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).
WYD 2027 is Historic
The selection of Seoul marks significant firsts and milestones for the modern Church:
Return to East Asia: This is the first time World Youth Day will be held in mainland East Asia, and the first time it has returned to the Asian continent since the Manila, Philippines event in 1995.
A Christian-Minority Host: South Korea is a secularised country where Christians make up roughly 30% of the population (and Catholics about 12%). The event is meant to highlight the profound, unique history of the Korean Church, which was famously founded not by foreign missionaries, but by local laypeople who sought out the faith themselves.
A New Papacy: Announced by Pope Francis in 2023, WYD 2027 will be led by his successor, Pope Leo XIV, making it the first World Youth Day of the new pontificate.
What Happens at WYD?
WYD is essentially a massive cultural exchange and a deep spiritual retreat, drawing upwards of one to two million young people. The typical schedule includes:
Days in the Dioceses (Pre-Event): In the week leading up to the main event, international pilgrims often stay with local families or parishes across South Korea to experience local culture and community.
Youth Festival and Catechesis: The main week features concerts, cultural performances, prayer spaces, and small-group discussions led by bishops from around the world.
The Main Events:
- The Papal Welcome: The Pope arrives and greets the global youth.
The Way of the Cross: A massive, artistic re-enactment of Christ's passion.
- Saturday Night Vigil: Pilgrims walk to a massive open-air venue, camp out under the stars, and participate in a powerful evening of prayer and music with the Pope.
- Sunday Closing Mass: A final, massive celebration where the Pope commissions the youth to go back home and be leaders in their communities.

Other Youth Activities
Throughout the year there may be other Parish opportunities specifically for youth to be involved with, for example Broken Bay Diocese events and leading the Good Friday Stations of the Cross. These activities are advertised in the Parish bulletin.
Audio Visual Systems
The Projector ministry is an ideal opportunity to gain experience with the computer based methods used to operate our church audio visual systems. Projectors are used by the Parish for the display of lyrics and selected parts of the liturgy of the Mass. Within the welcoming environment of the Parish, young people can expand upon their knowledge of these systems in a live environment by joining the team of volunteers running the church projectors.
