Sacred Heart Church
2 Richard Porter Way Pymble
Pymble Parish training event for current and new Extraordinary Ministers.
Beforehand, as we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) Sunday, Pymble Parish will be commissioning our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
The formal title for the role of lay ministers who help distribute Communion is "Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion". The word extraordinary (meaning “outside the ordinary”) is used because the ordinary ministers of Communion are bishops, priests and deacons. The term Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion describes anyone who assists in the distribution of Communion. This may include taking Communion to the sick, to residents in nursing homes, or distributing Communion during mass. This commissioning is a necessary prerequisite to serving in this ministry.
The Ministry of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion is a beacon of service, to the congregation and reaching out to those whose circumstances keep them away, ensuring they remain connected to the spiritual nourishment of the Eucharist.
Please RSVP meeting attendance to the Parish Office. Further information is available from the Parish office.
