6:00pm Mass
Sunday, 28 January 2024
Sacred Heart Church
2 Richard Porter Way Pymble

You are invited to a special musical performance after the 6pm Mass. An uplifting and soul-stirring experience from talented Croatian tenor Stijepo Gled Markos from Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Markos started his musical career in theatre with leading roles in various musicals. He worked with the Marin Držic Theatre in Dubrovnik and with the Komedija Theatre in Zagreb. He has performed in London in the lead role of Mario Cavaradossi in the opera Tosca. His powerful stage presence and clear vocals were recognised by the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden which recommended him for a British music scholarship. He has worked with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and with Welsh tenor Ryland Davies at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Markos is a guest soloist with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. He is an active member of the Croatian Association of Orchestral and Chamber Artists.

Markos presents a unique, engaging and multilingual musical experience.

Markos is also ready to share personal testimony of his spiritual experience and the profound impact of Jesus on his life - a narrative that was well-received at the 33rd International Catholic Youth Festival in Medjugorje, Bosnia Herzegovina.

Stijepo Gled Markos with the Libertas Choir and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra on Christmas Eve 2023

The Christmas Eve event was in the Catholic Franciscan church of the Little Brothers in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Legend tells us that St Francis of Assisi visited Dubrovnik on his world travels early in the 13th Century and the Franciscans have worked in Dubrovnik ever since.
