The 40th anniversary of the Diocese in 2026
On 8 April 1986, 40 years ago, a Proclamation establishing the Diocese of Broken Bay was issued by Pope John Paul II. The Diocese of Broken Bay will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. Introducing the occasion, Bishop Anthony Randazzo has published a letter to the Diocese.
This anniversary year will be a time of thanksgiving, reflection, and preparation for the future of our local Church.
Marking this special occasion, two major events have been scheduled in 2026:
- Diocesan Liturgical Celebration: Thursday, 28 May 2026
- 40th Anniversary Diocesan Dinner: Friday, 29 May 2026
In recognition of this moment of grace, the 40th anniversary year will be dedicated to preparation for a Diocesan Synod to be held from Thursday, 30 April to Saturday, 2 May 2027.
