Plenary Council Assembly Online

The initial stage of the Plenary Council has concluded. Information has been received from over 220,000 people across the country and of course, there are many different, inspiring, hopeful, yearning, and sometimes divergent and conflicting views. As the Church in Australia, we now have the vital task of working to catch the voice of God speaking in and through the people. It is this to which we now, as the People of God, turn.

This is Australia’s fifth Plenary Council, the last one was in 1937 (and prior to that in 1885, 1895 and 1905).

The First General Assembly of the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia opens with Mass at 2:00pm AEDT from St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth on Sunday, 3 October. The principal celebrant is Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, President of the Plenary Council.
