One of the marks of the sacrament of Confirmation is that we take a new name. It’s true that while an individual chooses the name of a saint, in a more significant way, the saint chooses the individual, drawing them into the power of his or her life and witness. Two popular names for young men and women in the Bishop’s experience — Sebastian and Teresa — reflect in a more universal way what it means to take this sacramentum, or sacred oath, and become a confirmed member of Christ's mystical body.
