New strategy for Broken Bay schools
Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB) is set to redefine education across Broken Bay with its "Shaping Tomorrow, Together in Faith" five-year strategy. Introduced in July 2025, this ambitious plan outlines a vision for Catholic education that is faith-driven, future-ready learning that meets the evolving needs of families.
The strategy is a courageous plan to shape a future where every child can thrive from Baptism into post-school life. The changes go beyond new buildings. The plan is expanding opportunities, modernising facilities, and reshaping the way Catholic education supports parents and their children. The aim is to work with families from the very earliest years of learning, through school and beyond — while staying true to the mission of faith and academic excellence.
The strategy includes landmark projects across six precincts, responding directly to community needs.
Northern Beaches: Planning for new secondary facilities to meet local demand and provide clear educational opportunities, as well as exploring opportunities for Early Childhood Education and Care.
Southern Beaches: St Paul’s Catholic College, Manly, will expand into a Year 5-12 multi-campus co-educational college. A new Stage 3 Learning Hub for Years 5 and 6 will be established at the Balgowlah campus. St Cecilia’s, Balgowlah, and St Kieran’s, Manly Vale, will merge into a single primary school community at the Manly Vale site.
North Shore: A new K-12 college with Early Learning will be created by combining Sacred Heart Primary School and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Primary School in Pymble, providing a much-needed secondary facility. A specialist Eileen O’Connor facility for students with additional needs will be established at the St Philip Neri Catholic Primary School site. The St Philip Neri and St Thomas Willoughby communities will merge at the Willoughby site.
Cathedral and Northern Suburbs: Planning is underway for a Baptism to post-school K-12 facility centred on Cathedral College, Wahroonga, and incorporating St Leo’s and Our Lady of the Rosary Waitara.
Northern Central Coast: MacKillop Catholic College, Warnervale, will become a full K-12 college with Early Learning and Out of School Hours Care. A similar facility will be developed at St Brigid’s Catholic College and St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School at Lake Munmorah, which will also include an Eileen O’Connor facility.
Southern Central Coast: A new base campus for the Eileen O’Connor Catholic School will be built next to St Peter’s Catholic College, Tuggerah. Additionally, $300 million will be invested in significant upgrades to multiple schools across the Central Coast to accommodate growing enrolments.
The five-year strategy is built upon community feedback from parents, students, staff, and clergy, ensuring it reflects local aspirations while positioning CSBB as a leader in educational innovation.
Beyond capital investment, the strategy extends Catholic education with:
- New K-12 options for greater choice and seamless progression.
- Expanded Early Childhood Education for a solid foundation for life.
- Modern learning spaces that foster collaboration and creativity.
- Enhanced career options connecting students with industry and post-school opportunities.
The strategy is more than keeping pace with change — it’s about leading it. There is a deep commitment to providing every child with an education that is rich in faith, filled with joy, and committed to helping them become the very best they can be.
