Thank You to Our Volunteers
Volunteering, time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain. Volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen communities.
National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of volunteers in many areas of Australia. National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering.
Across the country, in the period 19-25 May 2025, we thank the more than five million Australians who volunteer their time in support of their communities.
Did you know that four in ten Australians volunteer? According to the 2011 Census, the majority of volunteers are working either full-time or part-time, they are couples with children aged 5-18 and, although slightly more females than males volunteer, the difference is not as significant as we might think. Volunteering rates reveal that women (28.6%) volunteer more frequently than men (24.7%). Older Australians (55+) have a higher interest in volunteering compared to those younger. Volunteer participation declined across genders and age groups between late 2019 and April 2021. While rates showed minimal recovery or remained stable between April 2021 and April 2022, no age group has returned to the pre-COVID-19 volunteering levels observed in late 2019.
Our Pymble parish is supported by an important group of volunteers. All who volunteer their time and their talents come together to create a living community of faith. If you would like to be involved, we encourage you to make contact with the Parish office.
A special thank you to all of our volunteers for all of your different contributions.
