Sunday of the Word of God
We celebrate the Sunday of the Word of God on the first Sunday in February – February 5 in 2023 (Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A). Pope Francis established this day devoted to “the celebration, study and dissemination” of the Word of God.
Pope Francis asks us to mark this Sunday with solemnity, and to "celebrate, study, and disseminate" the word of God, “for we urgently need to grow in our knowledge and love of the Scriptures and of the risen Lord, who continues to speak his word and to break bread in the community of believers.” (Aperuit Illis, 8)
