Youth Ministry Equipping School 2026

Catholic Education, the Archdiocese of Canberra Goulburn, Catholic Schools Youth Ministry International, and ACU La Salle Academy invite youth ministers, students, teachers and leaders to the Youth Ministry Equipping School 2026.

The Youth Ministry Equipping School (YMES) is a formation experience for high school students and adults supporting youth ministry in a school context. This year, the event will take place in Forrest ACT from Friday, 27 February to Sunday, 1 March 2026. Applicants will be a part of the YMES Youth Ministers Stream (for Youth Ministers and Youth Leaders at schools or parishes).

Mission Broken Bay invites applications from within the parish to consider this valuable opportunity for professional development in youth ministry.

The Conference Schedule

  • Thursday, 26 February 2026 Participants arrive in Canberra and check into hotel (dinner not provided)
  • Friday, 27 February 2026 YMES from 9am-9pm
  • Saturday, 28 February 2026 YMES from 9am-9pm
  • Sunday, 1 March 2026 Participants travel back to Sydney

Support from the Diocese of Broken Bay

The Diocese of Broken Bay is offering four subsidies to four young adults in the Diocese who are interested in attending YMES for professional development. The subsidy covers shared accommodation at Ibis Styles Canberra, the Conference ticket to attend YMES, and most meals.

Pricing breakdown:
  • Adult accommodation (twin/triple): $270 ($90 per night, including breakfast)
  • Adult ticket for YMES: $225 (including lunch and dinner)
  • Total cost is valued at: $495

This Broken Bay subsidy does not include transport to or from Canberra, which successful participants will need to provide for themselves, or with the support of their parish or employer.

The criteria for application is:
  • Individuals in faith leadership roles in their parish, or those who feel called to leadership roles in a parish youth ministry setting.
  • Those having an interest in learning how Catholic Education (through Catholic Schools Youth Ministry International/Australia) intersects with youth ministry.
  • Those with foundational skills in youth ministry and wish to develop those skills for ministry in the Diocese of Broken Bay.
