Bishop Robert Barron: Word on Fire

Robert Barron (born 19 November 1959) is an American Catholic leader and bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester in Minnesota. He was previously an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Episcopal Vicar of the Santa Barbara Pastoral Region, one of the five Pastoral Regions in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He is the founder of the Catholic ministerial organisation Word on Fire, and was the host of the TV series Catholicism, an award-winning documentary about the Catholic faith, which aired on PBS in the US. Previously, he served as rector at Mundelein Seminary in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

He was ordained a priest in 1986 in the Archdiocese of Chicago and appointed to the theological faculty of Mundelein Seminary in 1992. He was ordained bishop on 8 September 2015. He has served as a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame and the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas. He was twice scholar in residence at the Pontifical North American College at the Vatican.
