Our Parish

Welcome

The Catholic Parish of Epping and Carlingford is part of the Diocese of Broken Bay. It embraces the former parishes of Epping originally established in 1916 with the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians as its Parish Church, and Carlingford originally established in 1962 with the Church of St Gerard Majella as its Parish Church.

Welcome to the parish!

Welcome to the Catholic Parish of Epping and Carlingford. We hope that whichever of our two communities, Our Lady Help of Christians or St Gerard Majella, you have moved into, your new community will be able to help and support you in your own journey of faith.

The other parts of the website contain plenty of information on our two communities and we hope that you will be able to find an area in which you would like to be involved.

To begin your membership of the parish community please download a New Parishioner Form by clicking on the link below:

New Parishioner Form: Download Here (PDF 1.6MB)

Please return the form, either by:

  • Returning to the Parish Office at Carlingford.
  • Dropping it into the after-hours letter slot. At Epping this is on the door to the verandah of the old school building immediately adjacent to the Church and, at Carlingford, on the door of the Parish Meeting Room.
  • Scan and email to the Parish Office as a pdf file.

If you are unable to print the document you can collect one at the rear of each of our two Churches.

Our parish is the work of many hands. Hundreds of people express their love for God by serving in a ministry in our parish. We have opportunities in practical outreach through St Vincent de Paul and Jesuit Refugee Services. We have opportunities in hospitality through greeting at Mass, serving morning tea or cooking a BBQ. We have opportunities in liturgical ministries of the Word, altar, liturgical environment, audio visuals and music. We have opportunities in teaching children through special religious education at state schools, or children’s liturgy during Mass. And there are opportunities behind the scenes in maintenance and administration. Where can you best serve? Please download this form to have a look at which ministries you might like to consider serving and for more details.

If you, or a member of your family, is not currently a member of the Catholic Church and you would like to know more about becoming a Catholic, please visit the section on ‘Sacraments’ and scroll to the section in ‘Adults who wish to become members of the Catholic Church’

Once again, welcome to the parish and we hope that you will be able to become involved in the life of your new community.
