Preparing for Marriage

The Catholic Church places a great importance on the Sacrament of Matrimony. To assist couples in establishing a strong foundation for their lifelong journey together, comprehensive marriage preparation is essential.

Engaged couples are encouraged to contact their local parish priest at least six months prior to their intended wedding date to begin the preparation process. This time allows for the necessary paperwork, spiritual guidance, and completion of an approved Marriage Preparation Course.

Building the Domestic Church

Marriage is a lifelong journey of growth, love, and grace. Beyond the wedding day, the Church offers numerous resources to support, enrich, and heal marriages, helping couples to build a resilient and faith-filled "domestic church" within their homes.

Fertility Management

The Catholic church encourages all married couples to consciously and responsibly plan their families according to principles of generosity, openness to life, prudence and trust in God’s provision.

To assist you in this sacred responsibility, a number of resources are available to instruct you in Fertility Awareness Methods (FAMs). Based on the natural rhythms of a woman’s fertility cycle, these methods are completely natural, reliable, and are consistent with the vision of Catholic marriage.

SmartLoving Fertility Online Course

Based on the Sympto-Thermal method, the course incorporates scientific insights, relationship frameworks and Catholic Theology. It is included free with registration in SmartLoving Engaged. Individual coaching also available.
