Development of Our Pymble Assets

On Wednesday, 24 March 2021, the Parish held an open forum to discuss future development options for the Parish. Over the years, the Parish has carefully considered various development projects including the childcare industry in 2016, and the aged care industry in 2011. You will remember that the Pymble site itself is the result of a major three site Parish consolidation in 1989.

Now, under the guidance of a newly formed Parish Development Committee, the Parish has initiated a project to optimise our Pymble land holdings. The Parish Development Committee works in partnership with both the Parish Finance Committee and the Parish Pastoral Council.

For the Pymble site, the land along the northern section of Bobbin Head Road and the northern site boundary has been identified as a possible development area. There are many considerations to any land development. For the Parish, the most important being that any development should not have a negative impact on our church and school activities in Pymble. Even so, any alternative site activity will likely require some adjustment to current use.

The Parish will engage appropriate external advisors and be open minded in seeking development options. Initially, Sydney based Charter Keck Cramer have been selected to assist with preliminary planning. Charter Keck Cramer is an independent Sydney based property advisory service firm. The firm has previously worked with the Catholic community of Sydney on other property developments.

Following on from the open forum Parish meeting, we are now turning to a wider audience and asking for additional input to the planning process. Your input is needed to help formulate options and to enhance decision making, in particular, to confirm that our Pymble Parish community is ready to support a project to conduct an Expression of Interest campaign to secure a range of market based development proposals. These market proposals will then form the basis for future decision making.

Any development needs to be in concert with our Parish Mission and Vision.

Our Parish Mission is:

To proclaim the gospel faithfully, to bring the Light of Christ to our community and to form our people in the traditions of the Catholic Church and the holy scriptures.

Our Parish Vision is:

To build a Christ-centred community of Love and Mercy.

We are committed to the protection of the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour centres while ensuring both benefit from any action taken. The future of our Parish hinges on the retention of our two churches and their associated schools. Both centres are important components of our Pymble Parish Community and are equally relevant and important to our decision making process.

The Parish will not commit to any definite course of action until all available options have been thoroughly considered and the Parish has had time to understand and discuss them.

Needs Assessment Survey

As part of this ongoing work, it is very important to ensure that we identify our Parish needs as an initial step. What are your own hopes for the life of your Parish? You are invited to complete the Parish Needs Assessment Survey document which can be found at the entrance to both churches. It is also available directly at the link below.
