Cormac McCaughan appointed as Bishop Anthony Randazzo's Private Secretary

Most Reverend Anthony Randazzo, Bishop of Broken Bay, has announced Cormac McCaughan has been appointed as the Private Secretary to the Bishop, Broken Bay.

“I have known Cormac for over seven years. In that time, he has impressed me by his strong faith and his dedication to marriage and family life. He is a man who is committed to the mission of the Church and has a marvellous ability to communicate,” said Bishop Randazzo.

“He will join the Broken Bay Chancery from 20 September 2023. As a member of the senior leadership team, Cormac will work alongside existing staff to support the Office of the Bishop.”

Cormac has more than eight years of experience leading policy, strategy, project delivery and communications development across numerous roles in the NSW Government.

He has helped drive significant reforms across multiple portfolios, including digital transformation, economic and social policy.

Most recently, Cormac led a reform project within NSW State Government to provide vulnerable individuals in regional communities with pathways out of financial hardship and disadvantage.

Having previously worked for the Church in Sydney, Cormac served as Liaison and Research Officer, and Secretary for the Vocations ministry.

He holds a Master of Philosophy and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Cormac is married and has five energetic young boys. He serves at his local parish of St Finbar’s in the lower Blue Mountains directing a choir and is a volunteer firefighter.

“I am delighted to welcome Cormac to the Office of the Bishop in the Diocese of Broken Bay,” said Bishop Randazzo.
