Patti Beattie appointed as permanent head of Evangelisation Broken Bay

Most Reverend Anthony Randazzo, Bishop of Broken Bay, has announced Gosford parishioner Patti Beattie has been appointed as the permanent Director of Evangelisation, Broken Bay (EBB), following a three-month period as Interim Director.

director-of-evangelisation-2022Patti brings more than 25 years of experience working within the Diocese to the role.

“During the past 15 months, I have been impressed with Patti’s understanding and commitment to mission and her ability to draw people from all works of life into the pastoral priorities of the Diocese,” said Bishop Randazzo.

“She has a genuine interest in listening to people, ensuring authentic pastoral discernment that encompassed a sustained and prayerful study of the various factors which give our Diocese its unique character. Patti also has a huge capacity to translate mission into words and action, bring to life the pastoral priorities of the Diocese.”

Bishop Randazzo said Patti’s work on the Pastoral Discernment Central Coast project had positioned the Diocese well for future pastoral discernment opportunities, particularly in the Diocese’ two other Deaneries.

“Patti conveys a rich personal faith and commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church, particularly from the perspective of our parishes,” said Bishop Randazzo.

“Patti’s appointment will ensure ongoing leadership for the Diocesan EBB Team as the Pastoral Mission engagement and its activities and plans are more fully embedded in the life of our community of the Church. She will also ensure the authentic implementation of the mission of the Diocese.”

Patti began her teaching career at St Agatha’s, Pennant Hills in 1992 before moving to the Central Coast in 1995 to teach in several of the Diocesan primary schools in the area.

In 2013, Patti accepted a position at Catholic Schools Broken Bay in the Student Achievement team, supporting the pastoral care and wellbeing needs of students across the Diocese. In 2020, she was appointed Innovation Lead at Catholic Schools Broken Bay, to develop and implement the CSBB Towards 2025 strategy.

In July 2021, she accepted the secondment position of Pastoral Discernment Project Facilitator, building on her extensive involvement in parish and Diocesan life to highlight key opportunities for evangelization within the Diocese of Broken Bay. In June 2022, she was appointed as Interim Director of EBB.

As a parishioner within the Diocese, she has been a member of the parish liturgy committee, an Alpha coordinator, youth ministry coordinator and a WYD leader in 2016, 2019 and will also join the Diocesan WYD 2023 pilgrimage.
