National Youth Initiatives

Catholic Youth Broken Bay: Evangelise + Gather

The ACBC Office for Youth has become a key resource of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, carrying forth the Bishops vision for ministry with young people as identified in Anointed and Sent:

  • To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person;
  • To draw young people into responsible participation in the life and mission of the Catholic Church; and
  • To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in today's world

The ACBC has been refining its national strategy and initiatives to support ministry with young people in Australia for 10 years. Today we see the ACBC Office for Youth sustainably managing the Australian pilgrimage to WYD, supporting youth ministry leaders through the Australian Catholic Youth Ministry Convention, and hosting our largest national catholic gathering in the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. Each of these events are strategically planned to serve as tools to support and develop resources for local youth ministry.

Operational Cycle

The ACBC Office for Youth operates on a three-year cycle approved by the Australian Bishops. This cycle responds to the universal, national and local needs of the Church’s ministry with young people. It balances event participation, resource availability and the need to support the local church.
