Director of the Sacramental Ministry and Catechist Co-Coordinator (Community of Avalon)
Catholic Parish of Pittwater

Reporting to the Parish Priest, the purpose of the role of Director of the Sacramental Ministry is to prepare and coordinate the parish-based Sacramental programs for The Catholic Parish of Pittwater. The Director of the Sacramental Ministry is specifically responsible for coordinating all activities for Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation and First Eucharist; preparing and coordinating the Sacramental liturgies; liaising with the Parish and local Primary Schools in relation to the programs; actively involving families and the parish community in the initiation of young children; and supporting Parish catechists and other people involved in Christian Initiation and education programs.

Reporting to the Parish Priest, the purpose of the role of Catechist Co-Coordinator for the Community of Avalon is to coordinate the scripture classes in the state primary and high schools in the Avalon region, including teaching in the classrooms and being the point of contact for the other volunteer catechists.

This role is a part-time position working 18 hours per week and is based in Mona Vale and Avalon.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate, in their application for this role, that they meet the following selection criteria:
1. A personal commitment to, and a sound understanding of, the teachings, ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
2. Tertiary qualifications in an area that is relevant to the role is desirable but not essential;
3. Sound understanding of Parish life and experience in parish ministry;
4. Proficient knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
5. High degree of discretion and ability to maintain complete confidentiality;
6. Professional manner and presentation;
7. Excellent people skills, adept in dealing with a broad range of people;
8. Excellent communication skills;
9. Sound leadership and teamwork skills;
10. Ability to build working relationships with those people that come in contact with this role
11. A current Working with Children Check clearance (WWCC).

Faith Formation Team Leader

The Catholic Parish of St Agatha’s is a Parish of the Diocese of Broken Bay located in Pennant Hills, Sydney. Under the direction of the Parish Priest, the role of the Faith Formation Team Leader, is to:

  • Provide leadership, management, coordination, advice and support to team members and volunteers to deliver faith formation programs and spiritual development opportunities; 
    and
  • Develop, in the Parish Team and Parishioners, an understanding of the inter-relationship between Faith Formation and aspects of parish life such as liturgy, ministry, prayer and service to people in need.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate, in their application for this role, that they meet the following selection criteria:

  1. A demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, inspire, and work cooperatively and effectively with others;
  2. A strong commitment to the Catholic Faith and an ability to connect with other people, no matter where they are on their faith journey;
  3. Familiarity with writings in parish life, Fr James Mallon’s Divine Renovation and Sherry Weddell’s Forming Intentional Disciples;
  4. An ability to translate strategic plans into action and resource the parish to sustainably realise the plans and actions;
  5. An ability to develop and maintain the parish’s functions to support its mission;
  6. Knowledge of and competence in using Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, and preferably databases for promotion; and
  7. A current Working With Children Check clearance (WWCC).
