Integral Human Development

Integral human development is about the formation of the human person, in all his/her dimensions—physical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social. As well, it is about the formation of communities, with their different groups and emphases, coming together to work towards the common good.

Church teaching tells us, in fact, it is and has always been the truth of the Church that:

1) The whole Church, in all her being and acting — when she proclaims, when she celebrates, when she performs works of charity — is engaged in promoting integral human development.
2) Authentic human development concerns the whole of the person in every single dimension.
Pope Benedict XVI, Caritas in Veritate, 2009

Integral Human Development underpins all we do as the Catholic Life and Faith Formation team. It places the human person, in his/her various dimensions, who is made to be loved and to love God and others, at the centre of the development of our communities.
