A message from Bishop Anthony - Interim Director of Communications

RandazzoBBC coat of arms

Friday 8 May 2020

My dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

I am pleased to make a further announcement with respect to the appointment of one my key senior advisors. I am delighted to advise that Ms Selina Hasham has accepted the role of Interim Director of the Office for Communications commencing from Wednesday, 20 May 2020.

Selina’s appointment is particularly significant with respect to my keenness to develop and strengthen our whole of Diocese approach to communications, identifying and promoting greater opportunities for collaboration with each other as we engage the mission of the Church of Broken Bay.

Additionally, within the next twelve months, I will recruit for the permanent position of Director of Communications and Selina will play a pivotal role in assisting me in this regard.

Many of you would already be familiar with Selina, having worked with her on managing the event of my installation as Bishop of Broken Bay in November last year.
Selina has worked for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney for 14 years in various capacities including Creative Director, Communications Director and more recently, working with me in the area of Ongoing Clergy Formation and Well-being in the Office of the Episcopal Vicar for Formation.

Selina is a member of the international leadership council of a Catholic lay community and sits on a number of boards and committees in the Catholic world. She has been significantly involved in Australia's World Youth Day journey over the past 20 years coordinating the first national Australian youth pilgrimages and being part of the organising team when Sydney hosted WYD in 2008.

A teacher by profession, Selina is committed to creating opportunities for lay people to grow in their faith and be a vital element in the mission of the Church. She is also dedicated to supporting our clergy in their pastoral ministry.

Please join me in welcoming Selina as the Interim Director of Communications. Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Rev Anthony Randazzo DD, JCL
Bishop of Broken Bay
